Spencer Thomas joined the Channel 2 team in April of 2022 as Host of Great Day Colorado from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Spencer comes to KWGN from KPTV-FOX 12 in Portland, Oregon, where she worked as a reporter/multimedia Journalist for its top-rated Lifestyle show, More Good Day Oregon. While reporting in the Rose City, Spencer interviewed numerous award-winning James Beard chefs, professional athletes, as well as local and national celebrities across the board.
Before working in Portland, she was a live-morning reporter at ABC 22-FOX 44 in Burlington, Vermont, where she ultimately found her niche in feature reporting.
Spencer is an entertainment junkie at heart and thrives on telling in-depth, community segments that puts positive storytelling at the forefront of every show. Her favorite part of the job is building relationships with local business owners, entrepreneurs, and community members who make the city what it is.
A Midwest girl at heart, Spencer hails from Michigan, born and raised in Commerce Township, 45 minutes outside Detroit. She attended Central Michigan University where she achieved a degree in broadcast journalism and professional sales . Throughout her 4 years at CMU, she worked as an executive producer, field reporter, and anchor at the university’s award-winning, student-produced news channel, News Central 34.
When not on-air, you can find Spencer bopping around Denver socializing and exploring amazing restaurants, wineries, breweries, and attending sports games. She loves nothing more than getting out into Mother Nature, snowboarding her way through the winter season and golfing, cycling, and traveling her way through the summer! Fun fact about Spencer; she’s obsessed with cows (don’t ask questions).
