GOLDEN, Colo. — Police can’t say for certain whether a body they discovered in Golden Sunday is that of Nathan Leon’s, but law enforcement sources tell FOX 31 Denver they believe it is.

Someone flying a remote control airplane made the discovery in a remote field around 6 p.m. By then, Leon had been missing for nearly six hours.

“He is good father, a hard-working man,” said Nathan Leon’s nephew Bryce as he held a picture of his uncle.

Leon worked as a part-time delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza at 40th and Colorado. Around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, the manager at the store called police telling them Leon was missing. Leon had been dispatched to deliver a pizza to the corner of 50th and Forest.

When police went to the location, they found his car abandoned. There was no sign of Leon.

Police traced the pizza order to a nearby Sapp Brother’s gas station where employees say police reviewed surveillance video trying to find images of the person who ordered the pizza. It’s unclear whether they had any success. Police towed Leon’s car from 50th and Forest around 8 p.m.

Leon’s family says they learned about his disappearance on Sunday afternoon. The family says they called Leon’s phone repeatedly and say Sunday evening a man answered who called himself “stupid.”

It’s unclear how the family learned about the scene in Golden but the family says they sent people to the area to begin searching for Leon. By nightfall, the unidentified man had discovered the body.

Police say there are signs of foul play to the body. They expect more details to come Monday.
