DENVER (KDVR) — A Pinpoint Weather Alert Day has been issued for Tuesday for snow that will develop during the morning commute and continue until it tapers off during the afternoon and evening.

9:25 a.m.: Jeffco Sheriff’s Office: It is a snowy day, and while auto theft is a year-round problem, it typically spikes in cold weather months when drivers are more likely to leave their cars idling unattended to warm up. Today is one of those days.

8:44 a.m.: Denver Police Department: CRASH ALERT: #Denver is now on crash alert (formerly known as accident alert). If you’re involved in a #traffic crash, here’s what to do:

8:34 a.m.: City of Fort Collins: 24 plows were deployed at 3 a.m. to begin clearing streets. Most roads are still snow covered and slushy, and plows will continue to focus on clearing arterials, in effort to make them passable for emergency vehicles. Remember to give plows plenty of room and drive safely.

8:25 a.m.: RTD: Snow is coming down harder and traffic is getting heavy! Some bus routes are seeing delays of 10-20 minutes, trains are close to scheduled times. Check the real time locations of buses and trains on Next Ride here: rtdden.co/3lOW05d

8:18 a.m.: Meteorologist Kylie Bearse: The heaviest snow right now is over the Denver metro area.

8:15 a.m.: Denver Police Department: The #snow globe has been shook, #Denver! Motorists are reminded to clear their car’s windows, mirrors & lights, turn on those lights & wipers, and take your time out there. And don’t forget that extra stopping distance.

8 a.m.: CSP Golden: CMV Chain Law restrictions and Passenger Vehicle Traction Law restrictions expected for the I-70 and US 285 corridors in a few hours. Truckers Beware: No rest areas between the Denver Metro and Dotsero, a stretch of more than 130 miles. Plan ahead.

7:30 a.m.: 5,786 people without power in Aurora, Centennial, and Denver.

6:50 a.m.: Fort Collins is on Accident Alert until noon. If you’re involved in a non-injury, non-drug/alcohol crash, exchange information and complete an online report. Stay safe out there today

6:20 a.m.: Denver Police Department: GM, #Denver! There’s a little #snow on the ground, which is enough to break out those safe, winter-driving tips: • Don’t leave your car running unattended • Clear lights, windows & mirrors • Allow for extra time to commute • Allow for extra stopping distance #DriveSafely

6 a.m.: National Weather Service: Radar shows snow increasing in coverage and intensity this morning. Roads are becoming snow-covered and slick especially over the northeastern plains. Allow extra time to reach your destination if you are traveling this morning.

5:40 a.m.: CDOT: I-25 southbound: Roadway reduced to two lanes due to a crash between Exit 201 – US 285; Hampden Avenue and Exit 200 – I-225. Use caution.
