DENVER (KDVR) — Winter is coming, and that means flu season is with it – but there’s an easy way to avoid influenza, get a flu shot!

This comes as more than 1,000 Coloradans are hospitalized with COVID-19, the most since the last day of 2020.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera, and members of the Colorado General Assembly talked about the importance of this life-saving vaccine while also getting it themselves.

“I’m getting the flu shot again this year because I know how important it is to protect myself and my family, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to fill hospitals, and as the majority of COVID hospitalizations are among the unvaccinated. Getting the flu vaccine is free, quick and easy and is a crucial tool in protecting our hospital capacity,” Polis said.
