According to Facebook researchers, “the platform makes body image issues worse for 1 in3 teens girls.” And while Facebook has often downplayed or denied their effect on young people’s mental health, the company is finally taking responsibility. This comes at an important time when many young girls have suffered over the last year during pandemic with negative body image and mental health issues, leading to an increase in suicide rates.
