SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (KDR) — Summit County will move to Level Red on Colorado’s COVID-19 dial starting Sunday.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said ski areas in a Level Red county must suspend indoor dining but can offer takeout or outdoor dining. When Summit County shifts to Level Red on Sunday, indoor dining at Keystone, Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin will be suspended.

“We put these plans in place for the winter with the knowledge that we were going to be dealing with Covid throughout the winter season so whether cases are increasing or decreasing we put this process in place so we could adjust as needed,” shared Loryn Roberson, Keystone Ski Resort.

CDPHE said families will still be allowed inside to warm up and take shelter during inclement weather. Restrooms are also allowed to stay open on the mountain.

The state health department said resorts can still move forward their plans approved by CDPHE for operating chairlifts and gondolas, which includes limiting the number of people grouped together from different households.
