DENVER (KDVR) — Staff and customers at The Pig & The Sprout restaurant are all right after a man with a gun barricaded himself inside the popular Denver restaurant.
According to the probable cause statement released Monday, Justin McBride allegedly went into the bar and took a rifle long gun out of a case.
Neighbors said the scene turned chaotic, and people start to run.
“Just as I had exited the building the neighbor was like get inside there’s someone with a gun,” said Eliza Shrestha.
According to the probable cause statement, several people hid in an employee locker room, and when McBride came in with his muzzle up, the hostages pushed the door shut and began placing items in front of it.
Denver SWAT and hostage negotiators had been called in. When McBride refused to cooperate, the team went in.
Neighbors heard it all.
“It was three bangs and then another two, and it was just crazy. We were up there, dropped to the floor, army crawled to our own door,” said Faith Atkins.
McBride was found and arrested, something neighbors are grateful for.
“I can’t believe that nobody was injured and that everybody made it out ok. That’s incredible,” said Briana Tonns.
Justin McBride is being held on charges of felony menacing and false imprisonment.
