GOLDEN, Colo. (KDVR) — A woman died after drowning on Tuesday evening in Clear Creek in Golden.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the woman is in her 20s.
While the sheriff’s office initially said she had drowned, it later stated that she did have a faint pulse when she was rescued.
The woman was taken to the hospital where she later passed away, according to the sheriff’s office.
According to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, the woman was hanging out near the creek and accidentally fell in the water. She was in the water without a floatation device for more than a mile.
The Golden Fire Department happened to be doing drills in the area, so crews were able to quickly rescue the woman.
The right lane of northbound Highway 93 was closed at Highway 6. It has since reopened.
The woman’s identity has not been released yet.
