LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) — Lakewood police officially announced that the remains found on Green Mountain on April 23 have been identified as Eric Pracht.

LPD received a 911 call after a hiker found bones on a trail on Green Mountain, located near the intersection of West Alameda Parkway and West Utah Avenue.

Pracht had been missing since July 23, 2016 when he was last seen leaving his apartment in the area of Alameda and Utah.

After the remains were reported, his family posted on Facebook claiming the items found with the remains belonged to Pracht.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office was able to confirm the identity using dental identification. The cause of death has yet to be determined and LPD is still investigating.

Capt. Kevin Borns was Pracht’s partner at South Park Ambulance District. He says Pracht was a dedicated paramedic who had found his dream job in rural EMS.

“He was just an awesome partner. He was just one of those people, you knew when you came into work, you could rely on him. Not only was he a great paramedic, but he was easy to work with, fun, easy-going. We could laugh, joke at the station and just have a good time. Even on the ambulance, I knew I could count on him 100%,” Borns said.

Borns said about Pracht’s remains being found, “It is hard for us at work, I know we all held out hope that one day Eric would walk back through the station doors and we could resume life like it was before. Now that we know, we have answers, but it’s hard. It’s death, finality. I think it’s hard for everybody. I can’t imagine how hard it is for the family. Our hearts at South Park Ambulance go out to them and we are here for them whatever they need.”
