DENVER — Police are investigating the deaths of three transients near a light rail station south of downtown Denver on Thursday.

Denver police division chief of investigations Joe Montoya said 20-year-old Kyle Cuffe was arrested on suspicion of a stabbing that left a victim critically injured.

About 11 a.m., a passer-by found the bodies of two men and one woman just north of the Interstate 25 and South Broadway light rail station at South Broadway and Ohio Avenue.

The deaths have been characterized as suspicious in nature are being investigated as homicides, police said.

The victims were not identified and Montoya said it’s not known if they knew the suspect or the victim in the stabbing.

Police said it’s an isolated incident, though security measures were being stepped up in the area.
