A flight will cost $300 to $500, if you’re booking early.

Advice to save on airfare

The website FareCompare has offers a lot of tips, including:

  • Book flights early for cheapest tickets
  • Look at alternative airports (not the closest)
  • Be flexible with days (Friday and Monday flights often cost the most)

Last year, the Seattle Times brought up “hidden cities.” While airlines rules say you can’t do it, some travelers choose a cheaper flight to another city with a layover at the destination they really want. Flyers just get off at the layover and never complete the trip.

Consumer Reports offers some advice as well, including:

  • Look at low-cost carriers
  • Look for other savings, like flight and hotel packages

On Monday, JetBlue announced it was adding flights between Denver and San Francisco on Feb. 5 and Feb. 8.

The flights on Feb. 5 will be at 10:30 a.m. and 5:50 p.m. with the return flights at 9:45 a.m. and 5:20 p.m.
