AURORA, Colo. — Two suspects in the stabbing of a Longmont man during a confrontation over a Facebook conversation were both arrested during the weekend.

One suspect, 29-year-old Mitchell Mailand, surrendered peacefully to the Aurora Police Department about 7:27 p.m. Saturday, police said. He was arrested on a warrant for 1st degree and 2nd degree assault charges. He is currently being held at the Aurora detention facility on $50,000 bond.

David C. Dominguez, 30, was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday at a home on Alameda Parkway in Jefferson County, police said. The information leading police to the suspect “developed (Saturday) night,” according to police. He faces charges of burglary, aggravated robbery, assault, menacing and criminal mischief. His bond was set at $25,000.

The alleged attack occurred about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Two men from the Denver area allegedly drove to the 300 block of 23rd Avenue in Longmont, where they confronted a 25-year-old man over Facebook posts. The victim was pulled from his apartment and was stabbed by one of the suspects, police said.

A witness told FOX31 Denver that the weapon appeared to be a cellphone. The witness said the suspect smashed the phone against a car to create a jagged edge, then attacked with that implement.

The victim was taken to Longmont United Hospital where he underwent surgery for non life-threatening injuries. It was the fourth reported stabbing in Longmont within two weeks.
