AURORA — Witnesses give further accounts from the scene of the Aurora Theater, which was showing the premiere of Batman: The Dark Knight Rises when an attack occurred early inside the theater Friday morning.

As of 4:50 a.m., Aurora Police have reported 14 dead and over 50 injured.

“They said bullets were flying through the wall,” the witness said. Then, gesturing to her friend, she said, “the girl that was sitting next to her got hit in the jaw.”

(NOTE: The shooting occurred inside theater 9, not theater 8 as the the aforementioned witness in this video suggested.)

A 24-year-old white male is in custody and he is said to have used homemade explosives in the attack. He was arrested with a shotgun, a handgun and a rifle in his possession, and he was wearing a gas mask.

If you suspect you had a loved one at the theater, call 303-739-6000 for more information. This is not an information line, but rather a line to check on possible victims of this shooting.
