AURORA, Colo. — Ben Fernandez, who was inside theater 9, the movie theater in Aurora where a gunman opened fire during the premiere of “The Dark Night Rises,” describes seeing a victim “no older than 12 or 13” laying outside the theater “completely covered in blood.”
The shooting has a left 12 dead and over 38 wounded. That report is current as of 7:26 a.m., Friday morning.
“Some people were shot, some you couldn’t tell,” Fernandez said. “There was just so much blood.”
The suspected gunman, James Holmes, 24, of North Aurora, is in custody. He was reportedly found at the back of the theater with three weapons — a handgun, a shotgun and an assault rifle. He was wearing a riot helmet, a gas mask and a bulletproof vest and told police he was in possession of homemade explosives.
