AURORA, Colo. — A man who recently shared beers with the suspect in the Aurora movie theater shooting called him a “well-educated” man with “a little smirk.”

Jackie Mitchell said he drank two beers at the Zephyr Lounge in Aurora Tuesday with James Holmes, the suspect accused of killing 12 and injuring 59 others at the premiere of “The Dark Knight Rises.”

When asked if it seemed like Homes was the kind of person who would go on a shooting spree in a crowded movie theater, Mitchell said “no, not at all.”

“He seemed like a well-educated, book-smart type of person,” Mitchell said. “The picture they showed on the news, that’s the picture you see when you’re talking to him. He had a little smirk like he’s intelligent.”
